A Fairway Independent Mortgage Corporation branch in Lisle, Illinois partnered with the American Warrior Initiative (AWI) to honor a local U.S. veteran with a service dog. Along with a donation, a residential housing “Boot Camp” was held to train real estate professionals and mortgage planners on how to excellently handle the home purchase needs of active duty military members and veterans.
The honoree at the event was U.S.Air Force veteran Joshua Webster, who served a total of three tours during Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. Josh worked alongside Army units during his time overseas and acted as a Quick Reaction Force, Route Security for convoy operations. Josh was diagnosed with PTSD following his deployments and applied to Custom Canines after learning he needed a service dog. Fairway Independent Mortgage and the American Warrior Initiative worked with Custom Canines to honor Josh with a service dog named Atlas.
Branch manager Dawn Pemberton loved being a part of this wonderful event. She said,
“Our Lisle event was held at the Hyatt Regency, and we had approximately 125 Realtors attending. It was an extremely successful event, with the agents being extremely engaged with the continuing education content — much more so than you would think for a CE event! But with fantastic speakers like Louise Thaxton and Sean Parnell, the audience was very involved and emotionally touched with the content presented and the initiative presented to Joshua.”
Co-founded by Thaxton and Parnell, the American Warrior Initiative is a non-profit organization sponsored by Fairway Independent Mortgage. The AWI seeks to ease U.S. veterans’ transition from military to civilian life.
I am proud to work for a company that does so much to honor those who sacrifice for our country. If I can help answer any questions about VA loans or any other home loan options, give me a call.Tags: Veterans
